US director, writer and producer Todd Haynes will receive prestigious Pardo d’Onore Manor prize at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
Haynes will be celebrated on August 7 with the Honorary Leopard prize, a lifetime achievement award of Locarno Film Festival.
The festival will feature the director's latest title ‘Wonderstruck’ as well as ‘Poison’ which was originally shown in Locarno, Switzerlad, in 1991.
Haynes is best known for films such as ‘Safe’ (1995) starring Julianne Moore, ‘Wonderstruck’ (2017) and ‘I’m Not There’ (2007) starring Cate Blanchett.
Festival director Carlo Chatrian said of Haynes, “His characters--often with extraordinary performances by the female leads--bring back the magic of great cinema, of art that achieves the sublimation of reality without lapsing into disenchantment.”
